No one in college basketball is having a better offseason than Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers. Hours after officially landing Aiden Sherrell from Alabama, the Hoosiers added Bryce Lindsay from Villanova. The 6’3” sophomore is originally from Baltimore and the connection between IU assistant coach Kenny Johnson and seemingly every DMV player is very real and impactful. Despite there being zero buzz around his recruitment, Lindsay stunned everyone and committed to the Hoosiers. He averaged 12.3 points per game while shooting 35.6% from three.

Lindsay was a freshman at Texas A&M before transferring to James Madison for the 2024-2025 season. He shot 84 of 205 (41%) from three and had a true shooting percentage of 61.4%. After the season, he was a key recruit for Kevin Willard at Villanova and shot 78 for 219 (35.6%) from three-point range. He started the season on fire with 22 points against BYU, 25 against Queens, 27 against Sacred Heart and 18 against Duquesne and continued his solid play with games of 12 against Wisconsin, 15 against Seton Hall, 19 against DePaul and 18 against Butler. Lindsay hit a cold patch in the middle of the season before exploding in the NCAA Tournament for 25 points with six made triples against Utah State.

The redshirt sophomore has two years of eligibility remaining and he certainly has some flaws to his game. For instance, Lindsay is not going to give you much as a distributor and he’s not going to be an effective rebounder. That being said, he has a lot of strengths that fill holes on IU’s roster. He is a very good shooter at volume and should fit Indiana’s offensive system to perfection. Make no mistake, Lindsay raises the ceiling for an IU roster that is beginning to be very exciting.

The Hoosiers still have three roster spots remaining and, as evidenced by this recruitment, those could be filled at any time.
