Examining The Series:

The Hoosiers’ bats are wide awake, folks. After falling down 5-0 early against the Sycamores, Indiana battled back and eventually won by a score of 17-12. Check out Campbell Manahan’s recap of the game in more depth here.

After this powerful win, the Hoosiers now host Evansville for a one-game series. Last time these two teams met, the Purple Aces beat the Hoosiers 5-4 in extra innings. No doubt, Indiana will be looking to get their revenge in the reverse fixture. They face off on Wednesday, April 15 at 6:00 PM ET. The game can be seen on B1G+. Looking at where both teams sit in the rankings, we see the following:

Indiana: The Hoosiers moved up to 100th in the country in RPI rankings and now sit at 105th in the country by ELO rankings as well. The Hoosiers have 18 games remaining this season and will be looking to end their season on a high note after a tough start.

Evansville: The Purple Aces are hot, winning 6 out of their last 8 (including a win over the Hoosiers) and 5 out of their last 6. They rank 173rd in the country by way of RPI and 194th in the country in ELO. They will be looking to sweep the season series against the Hoosiers after their win on March 31st.

Indiana Stats and Figures:

6: Sophomore Caleb Koskie was on base 6 times in yesterday’s 17-run game against the Sycamores. He finished 4 for 5 with 2 walks, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs, 3 runs, and a stolen base. This now raises his OPS to be third best on the team. His line for the year is .360/.435/.540 for an OPS of .975.

6: The Hoosiers have only been caught stealing 6 times thus far in 2026 out of 30 total attempts. This gives them a success rate of 80%, which exceeds that of the analytical break-even point of base stealing, which falls between a 70-75% success rate. The Hoosiers are picking their spots well and running with efficiency.

Prediction and Next Series:

I believe the Hoosiers will take care of business in this matchup. Last time these two teams met Evansville won 5-4 in extra innings. Indiana will get their revenge and win by a score of 8-3.

After hosting the Purple Aces of Evansville, the Hoosiers will then welcome Abilene Christian for a three-game weekend series in Bloomington. Be on the lookout for a preview and recap of that series soon!
