The Indiana Hoosiers (31-10, 10-5) came into the weekend rivalry series with Purdue needing to at least win the series. It did better than that as they swept the Boilermakers in their three-game set in Bloomington. The Hoosiers are fifth in the Big Ten and padded their RPI with the three wins this weekend.
Game 1 Indiana 4 Purdue 1
The Hoosiers set the tone for the series with a dominant pitching performance and timely hitting. Ella Troutt went 5.2 innings and allowed just one run on four hits. She struck out one and did not walk a batter. Taylor Hess went the final 1.1 innings, striking out two.
It was a tight game as the Hoosiers got on the board first with an Ellie Goins solo home run. The Boilermakers responded to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Delaney Reefe.
Aly VanBrant hit her 11th homer of the season to give IU a lead it would not relinquish in the fifth inning, and true freshman Joise White added two RBI on a single in the sixth.

• Troutt improved her season record to 8-6.
Game 2 Indiana 5 Purdue 1

The Hoosiers’ offense went back to work in the bottom of the second inning as VanBrandt knocked in two runs. She would have a three-RBI day after a sacrifice fly put IU up 5-1 in the third.
Taylor Hess earned the win in the circle, throwing 5.2 shutout innings in relief.
