The Indiana Hoosiers (28-10, 7-5) were powered by big nights from right fielder Hannah Haberstroh and Avery Parker as the Hoosiers knocked off the Butler Bulldogs in a six-inning run-rule win.
Haberstroh was the star early as she homered in the second inning to give IU a 1-0 lead and then knocked in three more runs in the third with a bases-clearing double. The sophomore also showed off her glove on defense, ending the first inning with a spectacular diving catch. Her three putouts were usually followed by a pop and lock dance move.
The Hoosiers and Bulldogs settled in for the next two and a half innings before Avery Parker tied Taylor Minnick for the IU school record of 45 career home runs with a three-run blast to center to end the game 9-0.
Parker had not homered since March 14th and told BTN+’s Alexandra Helm that “it’s partially a weight of my chest, but there was no pressure from my teammates to hit it. It’s exciting that it came in that moment.”
The Hoosiers used a great start from Aubree Hooks, who threw four innings of three-hit ball in the circle. She struck out three and walked one. Taylor Hess came on for the final two innings, allowing no hits and striking out one.
