IU would cut the Terrapins lead in half in the fourth with Madalyn Strader’s third home run in as many games. Hoosier captain Avery Parker gave IU their first lead of the day in the top of the fifth when she rocketed a double just inside the third base bag that scored Aly VanBrandt and Alex Cooper.
Josie Bird extended the lead in the next at bat with a double that was misplayed in left field and plated Parker. Bird would also add a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to cushion IU’s lead to 7-2.
