The Indiana Hoosiers (24-6, 6-2) did not need a comeback to win on Saturday afternoon instead IU was powered to a 10-2 run-rule win over the Maryland Terrapins.
A six-run second inning, highlighted by Alex Cooper’s grand slam, opened the flood gates for the Hoosiers who will look for the three-game sweep Sunday afternoon.
The Hoosiers were efficient at the plate scoring 10 runs on six hits and five walks. Three of IU’s six hits went for extra bases including a triple from Avery Parker and a Madalyn Strader home run. It was Strader’s second homer in as many days.
In the circle IU’s starter Ella Troutt earned the win with 4.1 innings of two-run ball and Aubree Hooks rebounded from a bad outing against IUIndy to pick up the final two outs and earned the save.
