Know the Opponent: Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Scarlet Knights have won four out their last five including taking two of three against Maryland and sweeping a double header against St. Peter’s. They have played five games against ranked opponents and have gone 0-5.

As a team Rutgers gets on base nearly 40-percent of the time. The offense is led by Riley Hwang who is hitting .414 and leads the team in runs scored. Five hitters have 10 or more runs batted in, so they can create runs from anywhere in the lineup.

In the circle the Scarlet Knights have two main work horses in Kassandra Gewecke and Kelsey Hoekstra. They each have over 45 innings thrown this season. Hoekstra averages a little over a strike out an inning. The staff has 23 wild pitches on the season already, so IU baserunners will have to be alert on the base paths.
