
The Indiana Hoosiers opened their season last week in Boca Raton, Florida with a 4-1 showing at the Paradise Classic, with their only loss coming in the opener against Florida Atlantic. This weekend IU heads to Tempe, Arizona for the Littlewood Invitational where they will play five games against Arizona State, Portland State, Pacific and Nevada (2).

Game 1 Indiana Hoosiers vs. Portland State (Feb. 12th 2:45pm ET)

The Vikings are 2-3 on the season after playing in the Easton Classic picking up wins against Cal State Northridge and Cal State Fullerton. Portland State has four batters hitting over .300 led by Gracie Toney. Four Vikings have hit home runs.

The Hoosiers bats did the heavy lifting scoring 23 runs on 22 hits. Second baseman Aly VanBrandt hit two home runs and drove in seven runs and scored four times while going 5-5 against the Vikings. VanBrandt did hit for the cycle as well with a double, triple and single to go along with the two homers.
Ella Troutt (2-1) picked up her second win of the year tossing five scoreless innings in the circle. She allowed just three baserunners and struck out three batters.
Game 2 Indiana Hoosiers vs. Arizona State Sun Devils (Feb. 12th 8:15 pm)

The Sun Devils are 4-1 with their lone loss being a 2-1 defeat to No. 3 Oklahoma. Arizona State also knocked off Northwestern who was receiving Top 25 votes 8-0.
Arizona State is anchored by good pitching with a team ERA at 1.65 and a WHIP of .88, both outstanding numbers. They have only used three pitchers as well. Kenzie Brown (1-1) and Meika Lauppe (1-0) have seen the bulk of the work while Aissa Silva contributed 82 innings of work this season. Brown has 26 strikeouts in 13.1 innings coming into the tournament.
Offensively, the Sun Devils have a hard time at the plate with a team batting average of .208 and a slugging percentage at .333. They have only hit four home runs and have seven total extra base hits.

The Tigers are 1-4 and their most recent game against UC Davis was postponed. Pacific’s offense can’t keep up with their lack of pitching. The Tigers have scored 14 runs and given up 28 this year.

The Hoosiers had an early morning after a late night and bounced back to defeat the Pacific Tigers 8-0. Catcher Avery Parker hit a two-run home run, he second in as many games and the Hoosiers first three hitters combined for six runs batted in.
Jasmine Reyes pitched four scoreless innings after pitching in relief last night and Aubree Hooks closed it out with one inning in the circle.

The Hoosiers and Wolfpack will play twice to end this invitational. Nevada is 3-2 coming into this event with wins over Illinois, North Carolina State and Lamar. Both of their losses came against No. 16 LSU.
Nevada is led by a potent offense. They have clubbed five home runs and seven doubles this season already. The Wolfpack is led by infielder Katie Wetteland who is hitting .467 with two home runs and six runs batted in.
In the circle Nevada uses multiple pitchers to carry the load. The early season trend is that they do not strike out many batters with just 21 punch outs in five games, but they have only given up 17 hits.
