Tino Sunseri Re-Joins the Indiana Hoosiers as Quarterback Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator

Indiana has hired Tino Sunseri as their new quarterbacks' coach and co-offensive coordinator following the departure of Chandler Whitmer to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sunseri previously served as UCLA's offensive coordinator and has a history of coaching success, notably developing top quarterbacks at James Madison and Indiana.

On Tuesday evening, Indiana hired Tino Sunseri as their latest addition to the coaching room. Sunseri served as the offensive coordinator for the first four games of the 2025 season with the UCLA Bruins.

The announcement came just hours after the news broke that Chandler Whitmer will be joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaching staff. Whitmer will be joining the Buccaneers as their quarterbacks’ coach, where he will reunite with offensive coordinator, Zac Robinson. The two spent time together in 2024 with the Atlanta Falcons.

Sunseri will join the Hoosiers’ staff in his former role as quarterbacks’ coach and co-offensive coordinator. As he transitions back to Bloomington, he will have the chance to jump right back into the roles he held in 2024.

The addition of Sunseri to next year’s staff, adds an additional element of continuity to Cignetti’s coaching room. Prior to following Cignetti to Indiana in 2024, he coached quarterbacks for him at James Madison (2021-2023). During his time at James Madison, Sunseri coached the 2023 Sun Belt Player of the Year, Jordan McCloud, among others. In 2024, he played a pivotal role in the development of former Hoosiers’ quarterback and current San Francisco 49er, Kurtis Rourke. Under Sunseri’s lead, Rourke was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country, ranking second in the country in adjusted QBR (2024) in his final season of collegiate football.

With this hire, Curt Cignetti quickly eliminates any speculation at what may happen next year following Chandler Whitmer’s departure.
