Tyson Brown is IU’s New Strength & Conditioning Coach

Written by: TJ Inman

Curt Cignetti moved quickly to replace former Strength and Conditioning Coach Derek Owings, zeroing in on and expected to hire Tyson Brown away from Colorado State for the same role (CBSSports’ Matt Zenitz had the news first). Earlier in the offseason, Brown had moved with head coach Jim Mora Jr. to Fort Collins after helping him lead a remarkable turnaround at UConn in Storrs. The pair were together for two seasons and the Huskies went from 3-9 to 9-4 in both 2024 and 2025. He was named the Senior Associate Head Coach and Director of Football Strength and Conditioning at Colorado State for the Colorado State Rams but Curt Cignetti worked with him briefly as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Elon in 2018.

Tyson Brown was a defensive back at Sioux Falls and played for current Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, graduating in 2009 after winning a pair of national titles. He was born in Washington and will move to Bloomington with his wife and three children.
