The Indiana Hoosiers added another coveted portal prospect as Montana State defensive back Carson Williams pledged his commitment to Curt Cignetti’s squad. Williams is a 5’10” prospect and he’ll join Bryant Haines’ defense with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
As a freshman this season, Carson Williams started for Montana State and had 46 tackles with nine passes broken up and one forced fumble. His play helped the Bobcats win the FCS Championship and he earned Freshman All-American honors. His highlight film shows an instinctive corner that excels in coverage but is a bit undersized to be viewed by recruiting analysts as a shutdown defensive back. Of course, IU’s defensive scheme has proven to know exactly what to do with cornerbacks built like Carson Williams.
The native of Houston, Texas, played in four games as a true freshman in 2024 before moving into a starting role for the Bobcats this past season under head coach Brent Vigen. This is the first true corner Indiana has taken in this transfer class and he joins a group that is ranked among the nation’s leaders for best portal classes.
Hoosier Huddle will have ongoing coverage of the transfer portal, including more additions expected from this weekend’s visitors, as well as preview of the upcoming National Championship Game against the Miami Hurricanes.
