Just five days out from their CFP semifinal matchup with Oregon, Curt Cignetti and staff are taking no days off in the transfer portal. Today, the Hoosiers added edge rusher, Tobi Osunsanmi to their roster for next season. Osunsanmi comes to the Hoosiers after spending four seasons in Manhattan with Kansas State. The Wichita, Kansas native was rated as the 2nd overall prospect in Kansas and the 18th rated linebacker in the class of 2022 according to 247 Sports. As a transfer, Osunsanmi ranks as the fourth-highest edge rusher in the portal.
Tobi Osunsanmi’s 247 Recruiting Profile
After sustaining an injury in a loss to Baylor back in October, Osunsanmi missed the remainder of the 2025 season. Prior to his injury, he led the Wildcats in both sacks and TFLs. In just 14 games over the past two seasons, the edge rusher accumulated 7.5 sacks and 30 solo tackles. When healthy, Osunsanmi was relied on for a large portion of the Wildcats’ pass rush.
Coming in at 6-3, 250, Osunsanmi has the physical tools to become a premier pass rusher in the Big Ten. He will be a redshirt senior in 2026, after playing in just three games his freshman season.
Help on the edge was bound to be a priority in the offseason, and the Hoosiers’ staff is addressing this quickly with Osunsanmi’s addition. After the 2025 season, key players Mikail Kamara, Stephen Daley, and Kellan Wyatt will have no remaining collegiate eligibility. This will allow for younger players like Mario Landino and Daniel Ndukwe to play meaningful snaps, but the staff has been working diligently to find additional pieces in the portal the can make an impact next year. In the Bryant Haines scheme, Osunsanmi appears most likely to slot in to Kamara’s role along the defensive line at the stud position.
With gaps to fill in next year’s defense, Osunsanmi should be in line to make an early impact. With this move, the Hoosiers look to continue their trend as one of the best defenses in the country.
