The Indiana Women’s Basketball season officially tips off tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4th vs Lipscomb. For our final Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Tip-off to IUWBB feature, we introduce the final newcomer to the 2025-26 IU women’s basketball squad— Phoenix Stotijn.

Name: Phoenix Stotijn
Height: 5’9”
Hometown: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Class: Sophomore
Position: Guard
After a productive freshman season at Arkansas, Phoenix Stotijn decided she wanted a change and committed to the IU women’s basketball program in April. As a freshman, she started 12 of the 21 games she played in, according to IUHoosiers.com. The 5-foot-9 guard averaged 7.2 points and 2.1 assists per game with a season-high 23 points with 5 3-pointers vs Texas A&M.
Coach Moren spoke highly of the 3-point sharpshooter in her preseason interview hosted by IUWBB play-by-play broadcaster and host of The Dribble Drive Podcast Austin Render. “Playing in the SEC, playing for Mike Neighbors who really likes to play fast,” Moren said. “Another young lady who can certainly get out in the open floor, create shots not just for herself, but for others.”
“She’s a very good athlete that is learning inside of our system right down defensively what it’s going to take to be able to stay on the floor,” Moren said,”and that’s going to come by way of her really locking into what we want to do defensively in our system. I think she can be dynamic at times on the offensive side of the ball as well. She could easily become a really good two-way player for us, but there’s some work to be done in order for her to be able to do that.”
In the Hoosiers’ 100-32 exhibition win over Missouri S&T, Stotijn contributed 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal coming off the bench.
“She does show glimpses of being a special player inside of our program because of her offensive ability.” Moren told Render. “We gotta bring the best out of her and when she’s talking and when she’s engaged like that it helps her on both sides of the ball.”
Tip-off for the home opener game vs. Lipscomb is set for tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4th at 7pm at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
