The Indiana Men’s Basketball season unofficially gets underway in 2 days when the Hoosiers take on Alabama A&M in the regular season opener on November 5th. Just like our football coverage, we are doing a countdown to tipoff. Today we take a look at transfer Lamar Wilkerson who has the fan base oozing with excitement over his potential.
Name: Lamar Wilkerson
Height/Weight: 6’6”/205
Hometown/High School: Ashdown, Arkansas/Sam Houston State
Class: Senior+
Position: Guard

Wilkerson was one of the crown jewels on the transfer class that head coach Darian DeVries brought in this spring to rebuild the Hoosiers roster for the 2025-26 season. Wilkerson comes from Sam Houston State where he was a two-time All-Conference USA selection. He averaged 13.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 95 career games with the Bearkats.
The goal for Wilkerson is to bring the winning back to Indiana basketball.
“I hope to win with this group of guys. Make a culture here that IU once had and bring it back.” He said.
For Indiana to win the Hoosiers need Wilkerson to be connecting from long range.
“He’s one of those guys that I don’t care if he goes, 2-for-20 (in a game), because that means he’s going to go 18-for-20 some night,” Darian DeVries says. “He’s that good of a shooter.”
