Stock up/Stock Down Indiana at Maryland

The Indiana Hoosiers (9-0,6-0) picked up another blow out win over a conference opponent with a 55-10 win at Maryland on Saturday. Early on the market looked like it was about to tank, but the defense rallied the team to another 40-plus point win. Here is how IU football’s stock portfolio is looking after week 10.

Points off Turnovers

One of the big differences in the game Saturday was Indiana’s ability to score off of turnovers. The Hoosiers forced five turnovers from Maryland and turned that into 24 points while the Terrapins turned their early interception into just three points.

Rushing Attack

With Maryland trying to take away Indiana’s aerial attack, it was the running game that took over and dominated on Saturday. IU ran the ball 52 yards for 367 yards and four touchdowns. It was the fifth time the Hoosiers crossed the 300-yard mark this season. The attack was led by Kaelon Black and Roman Hemby while redshirt freshman Khobie Martin cleaned up the fourth quarter.

Traveling Hoosiers

Over the last two seasons Hoosier fans have traveled more for football games. The largest living alumni base is showing out all over the country and had an impressive showing at Maryland where the Indy Star’s Zach Osterman reported that 10,000 Hoosier fans piled into SECU Stadium. The Hoosiers have played three road games so far this season and each game the IU contingent got bigger and bigger.

This is huge for the program as it was not too long ago when IU fans (not players family and friends) were a rare sight. Having a large pocket of fans at road games comes through on TV and gives a bit of atmosphere on the road in IU’s favor. We’ll see how many east coast Hoosier fans trek to the mountains of Pennsylvania next week.

Injuries

The injury luck from 2024 has not made its way to 2025. Before the game started IU was without All-American Aiden Fisher, OL Drew Evans and KOS Brendan Franke. Then during the game IU lost wide out Elijah Sarratt (hamstring) and backup linebacker Kaiden Turner (calf). Kahlil Benson was helped off the field, but returned the next drive as well. The Hoosiers have already lost Bryson Bonds, Lee Beebe Jr, and Kellan Wyatt for the season. There are three regular season games left and a bye week is there between the Wisconsin and Purdue games. However, IU’s season could potentially go 16 or 17 games if they accomplish what they want to accomplish.
