The Indiana Men’s Basketball (IUBB) season officially gets underway in 6 days when the Hoosiers take on Alabama A&M on Wednesday, November 5 at Assembly Hall. Just like our football coverage, we are doing a countdown to tip-off. Today we take a look at junior guard Jason Drake.

Jason Drake joins Head Coach Darian DeVries’ inaugural transfer class after a unique start to his basketball career. Drake came out of high school and chose to play basketball at Cleveland State, where he averaged about 5 minutes per game. After one season, Drake moved to Butler Community College, where he began to shine. Per iuhoosiers.com, Drake became a regular starter at Butler Community College and averaged nearly 10 points per game with 42% shooting from the three point line.
No doubt, Drake’s shooting success caught the eyes of bigger schools, and that is when Drexel University came calling. Drake made the jump back to division one basketball and became a mainstay in the Drexel lineup, starting all 33 games for the Dragons while shooting 43% from the field, 40% from three, and 87% from the free throw line.
Drake has improved at each and every step in his basketball career thus far, and Coach DeVries no doubt anticipates growth again as he arrives in Bloomington for his first season in the Cream and Crimson. Drake’s elite shooting ability fits DeVries’ system perfectly, as three pointers and shooting prowess are a focal point of this new Indiana offense. Drake will be given opportunity to shoot his way into floor time during the 2025-2026 season and has every skillset in his arsenal to do so.
