The 2025 Indiana Ms. Basketball has arrived in Bloomington as one of the most anticipated commitments to the Indiana women’s basketball program. Ranked No. 36 overall by espnW in her class, Maya Makalusky set Hamilton Southeastern high school’s record for career points scored with 1,933 points, surpassing former Hoosier and HSE grad Sydney Parrish’s 1,925 career points. Makalusky also earned 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year honors.
The 6-foot-3 forward is known for her sharpshooting behind the arc, rebounding, hustle and defense in high school– all of which will greatly benefit the Hoosiers as she settles into her role this season.
“Maya Makalusky has shot the ball,” IU head Coach Teri Moren said at 2025 IU Media Day. “We need her to shoot it more consistently.”
In the Hoosiers’ 100-32 exhibition win over Missouri S&T, Makalusky recorded 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in 20 minutes. She shot 4-8 from the field, 2-6 from 3 and 1-2 from the free throw line Monday night.
