Countdown to IUBB Tip-Off (8 Days): Conor Enright

In just 8 days, Indiana Men’s Basketball is back when the Hoosiers open the season at Assembly Hall against Alabama A&M. Today, we’ll have a look at Conor Enright, a guy who has a long history with the DeVries family.

Height/Weight: 6’1”/180

Hometown/High School: Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein High School

Class: Redshirt Senior

Position: Guard

Conor Enright comes to Bloomington after a season at DePaul that was cut short by an injury after he started all 23 games while healthy, averaging 7.5 points and 6.2 assists. Before that, he spent three seasons at Drake, where he was coached by Darian DeVries and roomed with Tucker DeVries. 

When the DeVrieses made their way to IU, Enright was the first player to commit. 

“I just love all the intangible things he brings to our team,” the elder DeVries told Blue Ribbon over the summer. “Hard playing. He’s wide-open every day, all day.”

The trio won two Missouri Valley Conference championships together, with Enright doing all the dirty work. Although he’s a career 42% shooter from the floor and 37% from 3, Enright has never really lit up the scoreboard.

However, he’s been entrusted to start 56 consecutive games, has 16 multi-steal games, and boasts a winning percentage of 71.4. In other words, he impacts the game in all the other ways that matter.

“I went and saw him play an AAU game [in high school],” DeVries said. “He didn’t score a single point–and he dominated the game. I just loved him because he took two or three charges, he dove on the floor for loose balls.”

Especially when you consider some of Indiana’s injuries floating around to start the season, Enright will prove to be a consistent, do-it-all piece for the Hoosiers in the backcourt.

“He just [plays] so hard,” DeVries said. “He’s just a fun player to have and watch–he’s fun when he’s on your team.”
