Lenée Beaumont, also known as 2023 Illinois Ms. Basketball, is one of four Hoosiers returning to the IU women’s basketball program for the 2025-26 season.

The 6-foot-1 guard was the biggest “what-if” factor for the Hoosiers last season, where she was forced to redshirt to recover from knee surgery. As a freshman, Beaumont showed a lot of promise in her 30 appearances. She averaged 9.6 minutes per game and shot 51.6 percent from the field and 70 percent from the charity stripe, according to IUHoosiers.com.

When she was medically cleared this summer, she didn’t waste any time getting back in the gym and training with former player and assistant coach Ali Patberg.

“Everyday I’m reminded to be confident in my ability, like there’s nothing I’m not capable of doing.” Beaumont told Hoosier Huddle. “So whether that’s through my performance on the court, but also, I’ve build those relationships.”

Not only did Beaumont put the work in to get up to speed with strength and conditioning, she was also the MVP of recruiting the current roster.

“I’ve been on every single visit with everyone who transferred here,” Beaumont said, “So I feel very comfortable with everyone. I feel like we have mutual trust. So being able to apply that on the court, challenging people, holding people accountable, as well as holding myself accountable. It’s an everyday work in progress.”

The young IU women’s basketball squad will look to Beaumont and senior guard Shay Ciezki to lead the team this season, and they did a great job of it in the Hoosiers’ exhibition win over Missouri S&T last night. Beaumont put up 11 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists in her first game back in over a year.

Tip-off for the home opener game vs. Lipscomb is set for Tuesday November 4th at 7pm.
