The Indiana Women’s basketball team kicked off their 2025-26 season with a 100-32 win over the Missouri S&T Miners in an exhibition game at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Monday night. The Hoosiers were led by Shay Ciezki who poured in 21 points on 8-13 shooting. Sophomore Valentyna Kadlecova scored 13 and four total Hoosiers scored in double figures. As a team, IU shot 36-69 (52.2%) from the field including 15-35 (42.9%) from three-point range. The Hoosier defense held the Miners to just 10 field goals and did not allow a three-point field goal.
The Hoosiers dominated from the tip. They led 26-5 after the first quarter and took a 47-19 led into the locker room at half time. IU held the Miners to just 13 second half points as Teri Moren emptied her bench.
Beaumont Back on the Floor Again
It has been a long road back to the floor for redshirt sophomore Lenee Beaumont after she missed all of last season with an injury. In her first action of the season, Beaumont scored 11 points in 23 minutes. She was 2-2 from three-point range and added five assists.
“It was surreal. Honestly, just gratitude for the process and for all the people who’ve helped me along the way, it’s been a long journey, but looking up, seeing my parents, looking around, seeing the fans, seeing the number five shirts out there, nothing but gratitude. And you know, I wouldn’t change the situation that happened in the past, but I’m just so happy to be out there with my teammates” Beaumont said postgame.
‘Aggressive’ was the Word of the Day
Indiana head coach Teri Moren wanted the Hoosiers to be aggressive in their first time going against an opponent on Monday. The Hoosiers smothered the Miners on defense forcing 27 turnovers, including 10 steals. IU scored 34 points off of the turnovers. On offense the Hoosiers hunted their shots and took 35 three pointers and got to the foul line 19 times.
“I think Coach Moren put that standard out in the summer that we’re the aggressors. We’re the one to make the first punch, and you’re gonna see that game by game a game plan today was to literally be aggressive. It was written on our board, and that’s exactly what we did, and that’s not really going to change.” Ciekzi said after the game.

The Hoosiers had nine new players make their debut on Monday night.
– Freshman Nevaeh Caffey earned the start while fellow freshman Maya Makalusky came off the bench to score 11 points in 20 minutes.
– Transfers Zania Socka-Nguemen (8 points), Valentyna Kadlecova (13 points) earned starts while Chloe Spreen (3 points), Jade Ondineme, Jerni Kiaku (7 points), Edessa Noyan (7 points) and Phoenix Stotijn (8 points) came off the bench.
