The Indiana Women’s Basketball season unofficially tips off in 5 short days with the Hoosiers’ first exhibition game. The Hoosiers will face Missouri S&T on Monday, October 27th at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. New for this season at Hoosier Huddle is the Countdown to Tip-off which will feature each member of the men’s and women’s basketball squad as we await the season. Today we feature a fan favorite— Shay Ciezki.

Returning to the Indiana women’s basketball squad for her senior season is 5-foot-7 guard Shay Ciezki. Since transferring to IU from Penn State following her sophomore season, she has played a key role in the Hoosiers’ backcourt.
According to IUHoosiers.com, Ciezki started all 33 games for the Hoosiers last season and averaged 11.8 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.1 rebounds while shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 39 percent behind the arc. She was also the team’s best free throw shooter— shooting 93.2 percent on the 2024-25 season.
Ciezki is not only an impact player, but also a dedicated student. She has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors back to back years, for 2023-24 and 2024-25.
As a veteran leader and only returning starter, Ciezki’s performance and communication with her new teammates will undoubtedly be a key to success for Coach Teri Moren and the IUWBB program this season.
The Hoosiers open the regular season vs Lipscomb at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on November 4th.
