Countdown to IUWBB Tip-off: Chloe Spreen

The Indiana Women’s Basketball season unofficially tips off in 8 days with the Hoosiers’ first exhibition game. The Hoosiers will face Missouri S&T on Monday, October 27th at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. New for this season at Hoosier Huddle is the Countdown to Tip-off which will feature each member of the men’s and women’s basketball squad as we await the season. Today we feature Alabama transfer Chloe Spreen. Name: Chloe Spreen Height/Weight: 5’10” Hometown/High School: Bedford, Indiana/Bedford North Lawrence HS Class: Sophomore Position: Guard It didn’t take long for 2024 Indiana Miss Basketball Chloe Spreen to find her way back home. After playing her freshman year at Alabama, Spreen entered the portal and was quick to commit to Coach Teri Moren and the Hoosiers. The 5-foot-10 guard saw the floor in 20 games for an average of 6.5 minutes, according to IUHoosiers.com. She recorded 5 points and 2 rebounds in Alabama’s win over Georgia State. Spreen committed to Alabama as a 4-star recruit and had a decorated high school career at Bedford North Lawrence where she scored 1,869 points and earned first team All-Hoosier Hills Conference selection all four years. “It was a great experience for a year,” Spreen told Austin Render in a recent interview, “I just knew that I wanted to come back home and play in front of my family and friends again.” “Leaving the state and realizing how much Indiana basketball means” Spreen explained, “growing up and playing in Bedford, how much they support women’s basketball, I miss that and wanted to be back here.” The Bedford native has the opportunity to compete for minutes off the bench in front of her family and friends this season. “The staff and the culture here is something I feel like is very unique and I’m very excited to be a part of it this year,” Spreen said.
