Hometown/High School: Buffalo, N.Y./ Arizona Compass Prep

Class: Redshirt Sophomore

Position: Forward

Sydney Fenn is returning to the Indiana women’s basketball squad this season after redshirting her freshman season due to knee injury. Fenn committed to the IUWBB program in June 2023 as a Class of 2024 commit.

Fenn nominated McDonald’s All-American alongside now-teammate sophomore forward Faith Wiseman. According to IUHoosiers.com she averaged 12 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks per game as a junior.

Unfortunately Fenn’s knee injury required surgery so she was forced to sit out for the 2024-25 season to recover. “Even though I was not able to play, I learned so much from not only Coach Moren but also Mack, Syd, Chloe and Karoline,” Fenn told Hoosier Huddle. “Last season was a learning year, I was able to see what works and what doesn’t. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel all year and see what it’s like without having the added pressure of playing. While it was the hardest year of my career being sidelined, I’m very grateful for Coach Moren and the staff for letting me participate in everything and helping me learn along the way.”

“The biggest thing I learned about Coach Moren’s system is that you will not play if you can’t defend,” Fenn explained. “Also, that it’s okay to make a mistake as long as you learn from it and make that mistake going 100%”

Fenn returns to IU as one of the few familiar faces on the roster. “My goals for this season are to be able to help the team as much as possible,” Fenn told Hoosier Huddle. “Having a year under my belt and learning everything I did, I am able to help our new team learn Coach Moren and how she likes things done. I am there for them in any way they need and get to be their biggest cheerleader.”

The Hoosiers open the regular season vs Lipscomb at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on November 4th.
