Indiana Volleyball had another electric night in Los Angeles — and right now, the Hoosiers look absolutely unstoppable. After dropping the opening set once again, they rallied with grit and confidence to take down No. 24 UCLA in four sets (20–25, 25–17, 25–23, 25–21). The stunning victory capped off a statement weekend in Southern California, following Friday’s upset of No. 17 USC, and lifted Indiana to a blazing 13–1 record (4–0 B1G).

The Hoosiers’ dominance was driven by their two veteran leaders on the pins. Senior outside hitter Candela Alonso-Corcelles delivered 18 kills to pace the offense, while fellow senior Avry Tatum turned in another standout performance with 17 kills and a sharp .375 hitting percentage. Tatum also chipped in five digs, proving her impact runs beyond the attack line.
At the heart of it all was freshman setter Teodora Kričković, who continues to orchestrate Indiana’s offense with poise beyond her years. She racked up 44 assists and a team-high 10 digs, showcasing both precision and hustle on every play.
Another adept freshman, outside hitter Jaidyn Jager, added her own spark with a double-double of 11 kills and 10 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Ella Boersema anchored the defense with six crucial blocks — including a momentum-shifting stop in the third set. Tatum got in on the action at the net too, tallying four blocks as the Hoosiers’ front line smothered UCLA’s attack down the stretch.
Indiana’s momentum seemed to be slipping away when they fell behind 9–2 in the fourth set, but freshman defensive specialist Avery Freeman completely flipped the script. With ice in her veins, Freeman rattled off an immaculate 8–0 serving run, swinging the momentum back in Indiana’s favor. From there, Ella Boersema shut the door with a crucial block before Jaidyn Jager delivered the knockout kill to seal the Hoosiers’ statement victory in Los Angeles.
Head coach Steve Aird has this group firing on all cylinders. Outside of their lone loss to Western Kentucky, Indiana hasn’t allowed an opponent to take more than one set since their season-opening win over Miami. With back-to-back upsets of ranked Big Ten opponents, the Hoosiers have made one thing clear — they belong in the AVCA Top 25 conversation.
Next up, Indiana stays on the road for a Big Ten swing through Michigan, taking on the Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans. The Hoosiers will face Michigan on Friday (Oct. 10) at 7 p.m. ET on B1G+. For full coverage and postgame updates, stay tuned to Hoosier Huddle.
