The Indiana Men’s Basketball (IUBB) season officially gets underway in 34 days when the Hoosiers take on Alabama A&M on Wednesday, November 5 at Assembly Hall. Just like our football coverage, we are doing a countdown to tip-off. Today we take a look at freshman walk-on guard Tryce Grensing.

Name: Tryce Grensing
Height/Weight: 6’0” / 175 lbs
Hometown/High School: Murfreesboro, Tenn. / Providence Christian Academy
Class: Freshman
Position: Guard
Tryce Grensing joins the Hoosiers as a walk-on entering the 2025 season after a successful high school career at Providence Christian Academy in Tennessee. He was a four year starter in high school and led Providence Christian Academy to a 2025 TSSAA State Championship win over Battle Ground Academy. Grensing scored 17 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 1 assist on a very efficient shooting night. He shot 4/5 from the field, 1/2 from three, and 8/8 on free throws. He also stole the ball once and finished as a +9 on the game.
Grensing also has a cool connection to Head Coach Darian DeVries, as Grensing’s father – Greg Grensing – and coach Devries were on the same staff together at Creighton, per iuhoosiers.com. Grensing will look to bring intensely hard-nosed play to the Hoosiers through hard work, dedication, and passion for the craft of basketball. His goal as a walk-on right now will be to push the starters to be the best they can be, act as a sponge to absorb as much information as possible, and take advantage of any chances given to him throughout his career.
The Hoosiers are set to open the regular season at Assembly Hall on November 5th against Alabama A&M. Stay locked in with Hoosiers Huddle for all things Indiana Basketball, Indiana Football, and all other Indiana sports – all the time.
