A source confirmed to Hoosier Huddle on Monday afternoon that wide receiver Makai Jackson has left the team and will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal when the window opens after the season.

Jackson transferred in to IU from Appalachian State before spring practice. He was a productive player for the Mountaineers as he scored eight touchdowns over a two-year period.
Jackson missed some of spring practice with a hamstring injury, which may have hurt his chances of making it into the regular rotation on offense. Jackson has played in four games with the Hoosiers this season. He made three catches for 15 yards and returned one punt. He will have another year to play in 2026.
Jackson intending to enter the portal does not necessarily mean that he can’t return to IU next season. Last year wide receiver E.J. Williams entered the portal after playing in four games and ended up back in Bloomington in a starting role. Williams wanted to get healthy while coach Curt Cignetti thought he could help the team still in 2024. To his credit, Williams kept a good relationship with IU and was welcomed back with open arms.
Indiana is 5-0 (2-0) through the first five games and enter the bye week ranked 8th in the nation.
