Drew Snively is going to have the opportunity to live out every Indiana boy’s dream as he earned a chance to walk on to the IU program earlier this summer. As IU scrambled to put together a roster, Snively received an invitation from IU assistant coach Drew Adams to walk on.

“I’ve liked IU forever. It’s been my dream since I was 8-years old” Snively said in an interview with the Indy Star.

Snively was a very good player at Zionsville averaging 12.8 points and five rebounds per game as a senior. He had a more productive junior season when he averaged 17.8 points per game. He fell just shy of 1,000 career points (929).

Snively was not with the team when the Hoosiers made their trip to Puerto Rico in August as he joined after school started.

He may not have the role he dreamed of as an 8-year old in Zionsville, but Snively is happy to be a part of the Hoosiers.

“Most of the teams I’ve been on, I’ve had a big role. But even with that, I just love being part of a team. I love getting others involved and being a practice guy. Competing is one of my biggest traits. I am trying to win and bring that competitiveness to practice at IU.” Snively continued in the interview with the Indy Star.

Snively brings a refreshing attitude to the Hoosiers. A selfless player who could have played at a smaller school to take any role he could at IU. If Snively can bring those traits to practice, he should be rewarded with playing time in the futrue.

The Hoosiers are set to open the regular season at Assembly Hall on November 5th against Alabama A&M.
