With strength of schedule and other metrics playing a critical role in the sport, it is worth looking at how IU’s opponents fared in week one. Each week we will recap all of IU’s opponents games and give an Overall opponent record of both remaining games and previous opponents.
Overall Opponent Record Remaining Schedule: 17-4
Indiana State (2-0): Last Week Win vs. Eastern Illinois (38-14)
The Sycamores were actually receiving votes in the FCS preseason polls and were still in that category after a second win. They knocked off Eastern Illinois.
No. 9 Illinois (2-0): Last Week Win at Duke 45-19
Illinois went on the road and beat a solid Duke team soundly. They forced five turnovers and held Duke to field goals instead of touchdowns in the red zone.
Iowa (1–1): Last Week Loss at Iowa St. 16-13
Iowa looks like they’re stuck in the mud on offense, but the defense is still really good.
No. 4 Oregon (2-0): Last Week Win vs. Oklahoma State 69-3
Oregon looks fast on offense and nasty on defense.
Michigan State (2-0): Last Week Win vs Boston College 42-40
Aiden Chiles has grown up and the Michigan State offense has come alive. The defense struggled a bit though.
UCLA (0-2): Last Week Loss at UNLV 30-23
All the good offseason vibes are gone as the Bruins look susceptible up front and don’t have the play makers on defense.
Maryland (2-0): Last Week Win vs. NIU 20-9
The Terrapins did not look great, but they did win and should make it through the non-conference 3-0.
No. 2 Penn State (2-0): Last Week Win vs. FIU 34-0
Questions are rising about Penn State’s offense. The defense is legit.
Wisconsin (2-0): Last Week Win vs. Middle Tennessee 42-10
Backup quarterback Danny O’Neil looked solid. The big test is this weekend at Alabama.
Purdue (2-0): Last Week Win vs. Southern Illinois 34-17
Purdue doubled their win total from a year ago and have some momentum in what should be a raucous late afternoon kick at Ross-Ade Stadium. Will Purdue be humbled or will USC struggle coming east.

Previous Opponents (1-2)
Old Dominion Win 54-6 vs. North Carolina Central
Kennesaw State Loss 56-9 at Indiana
