Continuing on with our annual Countdown to Kickoff, we move forward to day 4, where we highlight #4 himself Aiden Fisher.

Aiden Fisher enters his senior season with the Hoosiers after a stellar junior campaign – his first in the Cream and Crimson. Prior to Indiana, Fisher played for then head coach Curt Cignetti at James Madison University, whom he followed upon Cignetti’s hire in Bloomington.

Fisher was a zero star recruit coming out of high school per 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Yes, zero stars. His only offer was from James Madison University where coach Cignetti saw something that no one else did in Fisher. And boy was Cignetti right in that decision. Fisher blossomed right away, playing in 10 games his freshman season and then leading the team in tackles, earning 3rd team all-Sun Belt, and making 11 starts in his breakout sophomore season (per iuhoosiers.com).

Fisher then came to Bloomington, where his stardom continued. He became – as Fisher puts it – “the quarterback of the defense” and a massive team leader. His junior season was one of the best imaginable. Fisher earned first team All-American honors and landed at number 16 overall in Indiana football history for most tackles in a single season. He was also named first team All Big Ten. This season put Fisher on the map as he put together a similar season as he did at James Madison University, but took it up a notch while also doing on the biggest stage in the country.

As such, Fisher’s grades on Pro Football Focus were extremely strong, NFL scouts started to take notice, and Indiana’s defense is now a force to be reckoned with. Now, Fisher enters his senior season with an even stronger mindset, even more experience, and even higher goals to shoot for. Leading the defense is no small task, but Fisher is lined up to be among the best in the country at doing so yet again in 2025. If the Hoosiers are to repeat in making the College Football Playoff, Fisher’s contributions and leadership will be a massive part in making that happen.

The Hoosiers have a long history of great linebackers playing for the program, and Fisher might just be the best to walk through the Cream and Crimson doors.
