Ryland Gandy comes to Indiana from Pittsburgh where he was a 13 game starter and an Academic All-ACC selection (sorry I messed up on the podcast). In three seasons at Pitt, Gandy played in 29 games (13 starts). He made 47 tackles and had one punt return.

Gandy is in a battle with Jamari Sharpe for the corner spot opposite of D’Angelo Ponds. If Gandy does not win the starting job, he will still be a major part of the rotation and he earned the reputation as a very good special teams player at Pitt as well. There will be a role for him and he makes the IU defensive backs room very deep while allowing some of the young pieces to grow and develop.

The Hoosiers beat out North Carolina and Ole Miss for Gandy when he entered the transfer portal in December.

The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff continues each and every day, so be sure to check back often for the latest profile piece!
