Welcome, Hoosier fans to the 2025 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! Over the next 100 days the Hoosier Huddle staff will feature every player on the 2025 roster in anticipation of the season opener on August 30th against Old Dominion. Today, we look at transfer safety Devan Boykin.
COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: #12 Devan Boykin
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 195 pounds
Hometown: Greensboro, N.C. (Ragsdale)
Class/Position: Redshirt Senior +/ Safety
One of the IU defense’s biggest losses of the offseason was safety Shawn Asbury II, who decided to forego his remaining eligibility and enter the NFL Draft. Cut to 2025, and the Hoosiers have found Asbury’s replacement in transfer Devan Boykin.
A 5’10”, 195 lb native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Boykin began his career at NC State in 2020. Over his four seasons with the Wildcats, Boykin totaled 117 tackles (53 solo), 6 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. After a breakout junior season where he started 10 out of 11 games, Boykin tore his ACL in the lead-up to the Pop-Tarts Bowl, causing him to miss his entire senior season. Following this redshirt season, Boykin transferred to Indiana.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Louis Moore’s eligibility, the Hoosiers’ secondary will need Boykin to step up and be a leader this season. As a veteran player who is hungry to get back out on the field, Boykin is more than up to the task, and if he can line up alongside Louis Moore, opposing teams beware.
