Welcome, Hoosier fans to the 2025 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! Over the next 100 days the Hoosier Huddle staff will feature every player on the 2025 roster in anticipation of the season opener on August 30th against Old Dominion. Today, we look at freshman safety Garrett Reese.

When Chicago native Garrett Reese officially signed with Indiana on December 4th, Hoosier fans around the nation breathed a sigh of relief. Following his verbal commitment to IU in February 2024, Arizona State began pursuing the consensus 3-star recruit heavily. Despite an official visit to Tempe in June, Reese solidified his commitment by officially signing with the Hoosiers in the weeks leading up to Indiana’s first-ever CFP matchup.
A 6’2”, 190 lb safety, Reese was a part of a powerhouse Nazareth Academy team, which won three Illinois state titles during his time there. As a junior, Reese totaled 45 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery on defense, and 25 catches for 261 yards and a touchdown on offense. Following this performance, Reese was selected for the Blue-Gray All-American Bowl as well as the Top Gun 7×7 Chicago event, where he was named defensive MVP.
As a talented freshman, Reese will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced safety room while getting valuable snaps. Given how athletic Reese is, it would not be surprising to see him break into the lineup this year.
