The 2025 Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff is cruising past the halfway point, and the anticipation for Week 1 against Old Dominion is only heating up. As we continue our daily deep dive into every player on Indiana’s roster, today we turn the spotlight toward a fresh face on the defensive front — Keishaun Calhoun.
Keishaun Calhoun is one of five freshman defensive linemen looking to make their mark in Bloomington. Standing at 6-foot-2, the Ohio native made a name for himself at Groveport-Madison High School, where he wreaked havoc in opposing backfields. As a junior, Calhoun earned second-team all-district and first-team all-conference honors — and for good reason. The three-star prospect racked up 42 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three forced fumbles (all of which he recovered), and even snagged an interception. Simply put, Calhoun has a knack for disrupting offenses.
It’s tough to predict exactly how the Hoosiers will use Calhoun this fall, especially with the solid depth they already have on the defensive line — even before factoring in the freshmen. That said, we’ve seen Indiana make room for impact newcomers before; just last season, Daniel Ndukwe and Mario Landino earned playing time as true freshmen and avoided redshirts. Calhoun could very well follow that same path. If he doesn’t see the field right away, he’s still in a great spot to develop behind some seasoned edge rushers and interior guys. Down the road, he looks like a natural fit for the Stud position currently held by Mikail Kamara. There’s a lot of upside in Calhoun’s game — if Indiana can unlock it, he has the tools to become a serious problem for opposing offenses.
The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff continues with Day 40 tomorrow!
