Hoosiers Land Former Northern Illinois Cornerback Amariyun Knighten in Portal

The Indiana Hoosiers added former NIU cornerback Amariyun Knighten to their roster, expanding their portal haul to nearly 20 players. Knighten, who has two years of eligibility left, recorded 45 tackles and an interception in 25 games at NIU, and was recruited due to his connection with current IU player D’Angelo Ponds.

The Indiana Hoosiers portal haul should be close 20 members and on Sunday they added a playmaker to the secondary in former NIU cornerback Amariyun Knighten who will have two years of eligibility left when he joins the Hoosiers.

Knighten, 6-foot and 174 pounds, played in 25 games, with 14 starts, for the Huskies from 2022 to 2024. He has 45 career tackles and an interception. In his games against Power Four opponents Knighten has nine tackles and an interception. Knighten played in eight games this year before missing the final four.

Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti is continuing his portal recruiting philosophy of targeting production over potential. The connection between Knighten and IU was current IU cornerback D’Angelo Ponds. Both played little league football together Knighten told Matt Weaver of Peegs.com
