Nick Carovillano will add his fiery play to the Hoosier Defense.
Nick Carovillano is
#BTownBound, as he has committed to the Indiana Hoosiers Football Program. The Cincinnati, Ohio native is a
rising-senior strong-side defensive end who is considered a three-star prospect
by the 247Sports composite. In the composite he is ranked as the number 38 ranked strong-side defensive end in the
nation, and the 61st ranked player in the state of Ohio. He took to twitter around lunchtime on Friday to announce his decision.
Harris had nine scholarship offers to choose from, including one from rival Purdue, but he
decided that the best fit for him would be in Bloomington. He played his high school ball at the
prestigious Saint Xavier High School in the Queen City. St. X, as it is known, has an elite athletic
program that was ranked number 18 in the nation by Sports Illustrated. Carovillano didn’t have
an overly productive 2012 season, with just 53 tackles, including 2.5sacks. However, at 6-foot-4 and 235
pounds he has the potential to grow into a player at the next level with the
right coaching.
He plays with very good
strength and decent speed for his size, using an above average burst off the
ball to help him battle opposing lineman.
He needs to improve the use of his hands to play on the next level, but
his pure strength and physical style of play he will be able to effectively
rush the passer if technique comes along.

The Cincinnati product
is a hardnosed, tough kid with a high motor.
He always displays high effort allowing him to make the most of his
physical tools. His primary recruiter
was Greg Frey, the Hoosiers recruiting assassin, who received a helping hand
from defensive line coach Jon Fabris.
Carovillano is a tough,
quality active defensive end. He will
need to buy into the strength and conditioning program to help fill out his
frame to compete on the next level. He
also must refine his talents and implement the coaching that he will
receive. He is a good football player
who projects to be a productive contributor on the colligate level.
